Congratulations to Archbishop Dolan, former Episcopal Advisor to Serra!

As many of you have probably already heard, Archbishop Timothy Dolan, heading the helm of the American Church in the east was today announced to be among those who will be appointed Cardinals.

The Holy Father announced this morning the consistory to take place on February 18th, 2012 along with the names of those who will receive red hats. Except when convened to elect a new pope, a formal meeting of the College of Cardinals is called a consistory (the other case is a conclave). Consistory comes from the Latin consistorium which means simply 'sitting together'. They are held in Vatican City for taking care of the business of the college and which usually involves advising the Pope on important matters concerning the church.

Archbishop Dolan was the Episcopal Advisor to Serra International for the years of 2009 and 2010 and remains a strong supporter of the work for the priesthood.
